E. Patrick Powell

E. Patrick Powell, is a Jamaican Canadian and veteran teacher. After completing his BEd from the University of Alberta in 1982, Powell taught at Victoria School in Edmonton. In 1987, he completed an MEd at Oregon State University and started teaching at Harry Ainlay High School where he worked for 21 years until his retirement in 2017. Over his 31 year teaching career, Powell taught welding, physical education, CALM and psychology and worked as a counsellor. In addition to his assigned teaching duties, he loved coaching track and basketball, and planning Black History Month and Culture Fest activities. A man of boundless energy and passion, Powell is currently working as a substitute teacher.
