How do secondary school leaders increase parent involvement while sustaining meaningful relationships with parents and balance the e-world? What are parents asking for and how do leaders facilitate meaningful engagement? Through a study, information was gathered from parents and guardians of high school students about the barriers they feel existed, and ways they perceived site leaders could enhance structures, processes, and strategies, to foster parent participation. Findings were cross-referenced with the current Leadership Quality Standard (LQS); recommendations using the LQS framework and corresponding strategies to overcome challenges secondary school leaders may encounter will be examined (Alberta Education, 2018). Time will be provided for leaders to reflect and identify pertinent strategies applicable to their own contexts, based on a variety of strategies provided. The take-away will include a working document for leaders to continue their professional growth.
