Are you interested in making your classroom a more inclusive space, but aren't sure where to start? Are you looking for ways that you can support your LGBTQIA2S+ students, or ways to help your students build empathy towards others? This workshop will share lessons, ideas, and resources to use in elementary and junior high classrooms using literature that features LGBTQIA2S+ characters. Teachers will walk away with lesson plan ideas and book recommendations to ensure that their LGBTQIA2S+ students can see themselves represented in their classrooms.
Nicole Richard (she/they) is the chair of the Elk Island Catholic Local 21 Teacher Gender & Sexuality Alliance. She is passionate about creating safe spaces for LGBTQIA2S+ students and staff, representation in literature, and The Bachelor franchise!
