Youth are more than our future! A group of Calgary high school students in an Ever Active Schools program found themselves in the spotlight in April 2020 when their volunteer initiative, The Joy4All Project, received national and international attention for their creative approach to supporting seniors during the pandemic. Since April, their phone hotline has received over 33,500 phone calls from seniors and folks wanting to hear jokes and stories to help them feel connected in difficult times. This student-led project is just one example of how youth leverage their strengths and creativity to positively impact their communities.
