Are you seeking ways to build social-emotional competencies, and support positive mental health in students, while also increasing attendance and school completion, with higher academic performance? Are you looking for ways to build and enhance relationships with adolescent students? Are you wondering how to create ways to engage students and provide them leadership opportunities? Have you considered teen mentoring? Teen mentoring has been shown to increase social emotional skills, academic achievement and decrease unhealthy behaviours in both the 'mentor' and 'mentee'. The Alberta Mentoring Partnership has created a school based mentoring network for educators working in middle schools, junior high and high school settings. As a part of this network you will have the opportunity to engage in dynamic conversations and learning with others across the province, about successful implementation strategies, the relationship of mentoring to curriculum and competency development, and how students might earn high school credits while achieving personal growth. Resources will be shared.
