In this two part series, we will take a look at how to use the Foods curriculum as a tool to foster deeper connections between students, food, and life after high school. Part I - A look into how food can be a medium for exploring social context such as food justice, diverse cultures, and the environment. This session will focus on discussions for incorporating larger ideas into everyday practice and fostering cross curricular connections and practical lesson plans to bridge them. Examples will be linked to the outcomes for Foods 20/30 as well as Social 20/30 curricular areas, but teachers from all subject areas and grade levels are welcome.(90 mins) Part II - Does work define our worth? A deeper look at creating opportunities for K&E students to find value and meaning through work in an in-school setting. The examples in this session will focus specifically on the K&E Workpace Practicum 30 level course and FOD3130 Food Entrepreneur module. While the content of this discussion will be directed towards High School K&E and Foods instruction, all teachers are welcome to attend and explore modifications to fit their subject area needs.(90 mins)
