Think back to Final Exam time when you were a student! How did it feel to look at content covered back in September? As you began your review, did it feel like you were learning it for the first time? Although math teachers can see the connections between outcomes and units, many students struggle to make these same connections. They don’t often see how what they learned in one unit is helping them two units later, or maybe how what they did NOT learn in one unit is hindering them two units later. Retention in math is crucial. Conceptual understanding is equally crucial, but left unpracticed, even deeply learned skills can become rusty. Deliberate Practice is a solution to the lack of retention problem. It keeps all content current, relevant, and connected to whatever is being learned in the moment. Join this workshop to uncover what Deliberate Practice can do for you and your students. Please have paper and pen/pencil.
